Middlesex Vikings

August 22nd 2010: The Middlesex Vikings opened up their 2010 season in the heart of Brooklyn v.s. the Brooklyn Storm. This would be a true test for the Vikings as it rained off and on during the entired game and many of the players on the roster are new and never played together and this was their first game together as Vikngs. This would not prove to be a problem as the Vikings forced the Storm to a 3 and out on their first possession and this would be a reoccurring theme for the Storm throughout the day as they never seen the redzone once and were shut out 14-0!! The Vikings defense was led by starting MLB Clarence “Murda” Goodman who led the team with 11 tackles. The Vikings also recovered numerous fumbles (Jamark Best 1FR, Cory Curtis 1FR) had 2 int (TJ Brown 1INT Randy Varbelow 1INT) and kept heavy pressure  on the Storm QB with the front 7 and led by a sack by Jerome Smith.

The Vikings Offense Looked better in the opener controlling most of the game clock with a new QB under center Hill Spearman (3-13 for 40 yards) The Offensive Line of the MSV led by new center Gino opened up holes for numerous running backs (Nick Cannon, Ced Brown, Kweku Lynchwood, and Randy Varbelow) and punished the storm with 36 carries for 200 yards. The Vikings 2 touchdowns were Scored on a fumbled recovery by Shawn and a QB sneak by Hill Spearman followed by a 2pt. Conversion from Troy Jenkins to Nick Cannon.

Game 2 will be against the NJ Longhorns (1-0) at 2pm at Nat Turner Field. For directions call Cory or Coach Lowe.
